On May 9, 1945, the glorious Red Army of the great Stalin hoisted the flag of victory over the German Reichstag in Berlin, Germany, under Hitlerite rule.

Fascism, the capitalist system in crisis, came to power with the slogan of anti-communism and ignited the Second World War.

The fascist axis of Rome-Berlin-Tokyo caused around 40 million deaths and immeasurable material and cultural damage to the world.

Against the fascist Axis, the world anti-fascist front rose, led by the great Anglo-Soviet-American alliance.

In the Second World War, the Soviet Union, under the leadership of the great Stalin, bore the heaviest burden.

In this war:

— The Soviet Union sacrificed about 20,000,000 people.

— England sacrificed about 260,000 people.

— The United States sacrificed 220,000 people.

— Albania sacrificed 28,000 martyrs.

In proportion to its population, Albania ranked among the primary countries with the greatest contribution to this war.

In the legendary epic of the Albanian Anti-Fascist National Liberation War, the Albanian people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Albania (PKSH) and Enver Hoxha, achieved an historic victory over Italo-German fascism and the country’s traitors, the Balli Kombëtar and Zogites, liberating Albania and establishing the people’s state power on November 29, 1944.

Fascism — as Marxist-Leninist science teaches us — is a product of capitalism in crisis, it is the most vicious and overt form of bourgeois dictatorship in power, it is the ideological and political ultra-reactionary current of the bourgeoisie in power, which expresses and defends the interests of monopoly capital (the financial oligarchy) that violently suppresses any revolutionary, democratic and national movement of the proletariat and peoples of the world.

Today fascism is still alive, it appears in the form of neo-fascism with a democratic mask.

After the overthrow of socialism in Albania with revisionist betrayal by the top leadership of the former Party of Labour of Albania orchestrated by the chief revisionist and traitor Ramiz Alia, a bourgeois neo-fascist regime with a democratic mask was established in Albania.

This neo-fascist regime, for about 30 years, has brutally attacked the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War, socialism, Enver Hoxha and the Communist Party of Albania.

As is known, the bourgeois neo-fascist Democratic Party of Sali Berisha and its governments have declared the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War a “civil war,” politically rehabilitated and honoured all the darkest elements of fascism, the Ballist-Zogite traitors to the Homeland, and fought and are fighting the organizer and leader of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War, the Communist Party of Albania under Enver Hoxha, socialism and communism, with fierceness.

The bourgeois neo-Ballist Socialist Party of Edi Rama, while claiming to respect the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War, in fact rehabilitates and honours the collaborators of fascism such as the chairman of the “Balli Kombëtar,” the chief traitor of the Homeland Mithat Frashëri, and politically attacks socialism and communism, Enver Hoxha and the PKSH, just like the neo-fascist Democratic Party.

The Communist Party of Albania is the only political force, for about the last 30 years, that has consistently and with great sacrifice defended the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War, socialism and communism, and Enver Hoxha, clashing and colliding in the battlefield with the forces of the bourgeois order.

The PKSH calls on the people, on this 75th anniversary of the victory over fascism, to be vigilant against the fascist threat because fascism is a product of capitalism in crisis, as it is today, and this threat is real and current as long as capitalism exists.

The fascist threat will disappear when the mother who gave birth to it, capitalism, disappears, when socialism and communism finally prevail throughout the world.

Glory to May 9, the Day of Victory Over Fascism!
