Photo reportage with photos from the construction of houses with voluntary work in neighbourhoods No. 5 and No. 1 of Tirana.
The workers of Tirana, in response to the Party’s call to advance the socialist revolution, have continuously taken and put into practice a series of revolutionary movements and wonderful initiatives with deep ideological, economic and social content. One of these movements is the construction of houses with voluntary contributions. Today Tirana has turned into a large construction site. Only during the past year (1969), 487 apartments were built with voluntary contributions. This year (1970), the front of work is even larger. It is characteristic that this year not only has the front of work expanded, but also the construction of three- and four-storey houses, while last year mainly two-storey houses were built, except for neighbourhood No. 8, which had eight four-storey apartments.
These constructions are implemented according to the city’s regulatory plan. So far, neighbourhoods are distinguished for good work: No. 8, which has delivered 18 apartments, and also has another 72 in completion, as well as several other houses where the aims are at different stages. Likewise, good work is being done in neighbourhoods No. 5 and No. 6. To speed up the pace of construction, the city headquarters have organized five actions with concentrated strikes during this year to collect and transport the necessary materials near the sites. Such actions have also been organized by the residents of the neighbourhoods themselves, for example within 18 days neighbourhood No. 6 completed 18 apartments, etc. The city headquarters, in collaboration with construction material production enterprises, have taken measures to increase production by setting up new lines and departments, increasing production capacity for bricks, slabs, reinforced ceramic tiles, doors, windows, etc. In this direction, the workers of NISH bricks — Tirana, NSHPMN Silicate bricks, the “Josif Pashko” combine and NISH bricks in Vora are working well.
Another good initiative is that of the workers of NBSH-Kamëz who have raised the target for the production of about 3,000,000 pieces of bricks to supply the houses being built with voluntary contributions.
