After the dark day of April 11 on which Comrade Enver Hoxha died in 1985, history itself dictated that April 12 would be the anniversary of one of his greatest accomplishments — on this day in 1961, Comrade Enver Hoxha and the entire Albanian people expelled the Soviet social-imperialists from their shores.
After Comrade Enver Hoxha’s heroic speech at the November 1960 Moscow Meeting, the Khrushchevites broke the agreement at the joint Soviet-Albanian Vlora Pashaliman naval base that once trained, the Albanians would take full possession of the submarines and the base. Refusing to leave until they received every submarine, the Soviet social-imperialists threatened invasion, to set Albania ablaze. Comrade Enver Hoxha and the Albanian people responded that the Albanian man has faced millenia of invasion, occupation and oppression and is not afraid of anybody or anything, and that if the social-imperialists attacked, they would face the same fate as the Italian fascists and German nazis who were smashed and expelled by this Albanian man.
On the orders of Comrade Enver Hoxha, the Albanian People’s Army and Navy encircled the base, besieging the Khrushchevite submarines, ordering them to leave and then firing upon them as a warning. In the face of this strong stand, the Khrushchevites were forced to leave Vlora forever, stealing half the submarines but humiliated in front of the world — they were defeated without firing a single shot at the Albanians. Still today, one of the submarines the Albanians retained sits at Pashaliman in Vlora — it was, is and will forever be Albanian.
Comrade Enver Hoxha often said that the fate of the Albanians was played with by the Great Powers for millennia, but not now, with an free, independent and strong Albania. Just as they had done in the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War, the Albanians achieved the seemingly impossible without any outside aid. Even Ballist traitors who raise the figure of Mithat Frashëri to the mountain peaks know that he could have never led the Albanians to achieve what Comrade Enver Hoxha did at Pashaliman in 1961.
