The Albanian Telegraph Agency

The Albanian Telegraphic Agency (ATA) is the central official information institution of the People’s Socialist Republic of Albania, the voice of the Party of Labour of Albania (PLA) and the socialist state. It was established immediately after Liberation on December 29, 1944 to collect, process and disseminate information about the ideological, political, economic, cultural and social activities taking place in Albania, as well as about political and social events worldwide. The ATA is the main source of information for the Party’s propaganda, the Albanian press, radio and television, as well as a centre for processing materials from the press and foreign agencies. The ATA’s activities are based on the Marxist-Leninist principles of the PLA and the teachings of Comrade Enver Hoxha on people’s journalism. In the international arena, the ATA reflects the political line of the PLA and state for the construction of socialism in Albania and its Marxist-Leninist policy internationally to support the peoples’ struggle for national and social liberation against American imperialism, Soviet social-imperialism, reaction and modern revisionism.

The ATA publishes daily bulletins with domestic and foreign news, periodic bulletins on specific fields, as well as in foreign languages.
